Attempting 5k with a wrist that may or may not cooperate.
After a few years away from Swimathon, I’ve decided it’s time to jump back in. This March, I’ll be taking on the 5k challenge a distance I’ve tackled before (including as part of the very first Triple 5k event).
This year, though, the timing is… let’s say…..interesting!
Next week I’m heading in for an operation on my wrist, with a recovery period somewhere between 2 – 6 weeks and my Swimathon date is the 21st of March.
So depending on how things go…I’ll either be fully ready.. mostly ready.. or turning up with the kind of optimism usually reserved for people who say, “How hard can it be??”
And yes, I’m aware that swimming technically involves arms….but, it’s mostly legs… right?
Whether I manage the full 5k or simply splash around aimlessly trying not drown and just doing what I can on the day, I’m looking forward to taking part in the Swimathon.

Swimathon was one of my very first events and it feels a bit like coming home. I’m proud to be involved again…..even if my wrist may have other ideas.
It’s a brilliant event that’s always fun and supports charities doing genuinely important work. Any donation would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks for reading, and for cheering me on as I attempt a slightly unpredictable swim.
Whatever happens, I’ll be giving it my best.
